Description:
This lesson discusses assessment and screening of children’s physical development, including common assessment and screening tools and instruments used by health care professionals and child care providers to evaluate children’s physical development. It also discusses areas of children’s physical development, including health and growth, visual and auditory development, and gross and fine motor skills development.
Objectives:
IDENTIFY tools and instruments health care professionals use to assess physical development.
IDENTIFY areas of children’s physical development.
RECALL components of physical health and growth, including bone and muscle structure, height, weight, and head circumference.
IDENTIFY tools and instruments child care providers use to screen for delays or impairments in physical development.
RECALL indications of delays or impairments related to receipt and/or processing of visual and auditory stimuli.
IDENTIFY parts of the body relating to gross and fine motor skills.
